Jerry Lou Campbell, 70, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in Houston, Texas. She was born on July 1, 1947 in Anahuac, Texas to Paul Laver and Mary Ellen Smith Perry. Jerry graduated from Belle Chasse High School in Louisiana in 1965. She worked for many years as an insurance agent for various companies and was a member of the Independent Insurance Association of Houston (IIAH).
Jerry had a fantastic sense of humor and was always very entertaining with her quick wit. She loved nothing more than to have fun with everything she did. Jerry enjoyed traveling and visiting vineyards. She was an avid gardener with an amazing green thumb; growing flowers, trees, fruits and vegetables. Her favorites were hibiscus and bougainvillea. Jerry’s favorite hobby of all was her family. She adored nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jerry was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and church. She had been attending the Champion Forest Baptist Church Jersey Village location in Houston.
Jerry was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter Meagon Campbell; and her sisters Mary Ann Perry, Laura Reagan and Gloria Perry. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Jenny Mitchell and husband Mitch, Josh Campbell and wife Cyndi, Joel Campbell and Jamie Campbell; her former husband of 20 years and dear friend George Campbell; her grandchildren Justin Campbell and wife Heather, Mary Campbell, Jack Campbell and Lukas Campbell; her great-grandchildren Amorie, Mackenzy, Alyssa, Noah and Isaiah; her siblings James Perry and wife Mary, Robert Perry and wife Fran, Judy Roberson and husband Howard and Paul Perry; her lifelong friend Tommie Mills; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Westland Baptist Church, 1407 W. Grand Parkway South, Katy, Texas 77494.
