Curly Dagle Baker, 94, of Sour Lake, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in Beaumont, Texas. She was born on March 9, 1923 in Liberty, Texas to Nervill and Mittie Nugent Dagle. Curly worked in various capacities for Lamar University for numerous years. She served as an administrative assistant in the Dean’s office and worked in the school bookstore.
Curly was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Curly liked to read, work crossword puzzles and word searches. She also enjoyed the outdoors, maintaining beauty of her surroundings and flower gardening.
Curly was preceded in death by her parents; and her loving husband Francis Baker. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons Phil Baker and husband Ronald Chevalier of Beaumont, Keith Baker and wife Jenny of Marble Falls, Texas and Larry Baker of Sour Lake; her grandchildren Phil Baker, Joshua Baker, Brandie Focken, Ian Baker and Michael Baker; numerous great-grandchildren; her special friend and caregiver, Mary Garcia; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6pm until 8pm on Thursday, February 1, 2018 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Sterling Funeral Home. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Palms Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton.
