Jewel Catherine Davis

Jewel Catherine Davis, 92, of Anahuac, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014, while visiting her daughter and son-in-law in Michigan.  She was born September 13, 1921, in Brookeland, Texas to Tom Burks and Dollie Williamson.  She married the love of her life, Earl William Davis on January 19, 1938 in Bon Wier, Texas.
Mrs. Davis enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, always believing in each and every one of them and encouraging them to pursue their dreams.  She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, gardening, and she loved her church.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl William Davis, daughters Joyce Ellen Davis and Louise Davis, sons John Wilburn Davis and Kevin Wayne Davis, sisters Ethel Burks and Marie Burks Jean and brothers Willard, Theodore and Harold Burks.
Jewel would answer to anyone that called her “Grandma” or “Memaw”, even if you weren’t one of hers, and she was the best Grandma ever!  She wasn't monetarily well off, but had the richest soul of any, great sense of humor, loved to visit anyone that would stop by, and would play any board game we put in front of her with a smile.  She absolutely loved her dog, Angel.  Angel was her most special companion in the world, and before her it was her poodle, Holly. Friendly, kind, and turned away no stranger to feed.  She was Pentecostal and a very Christian lady. She had more Pride than anyone I ever knew and although she was a Christian, whatever gift she was given she would display proudly, so long as it was appropriate, and would make sure to tell which kid or grandkid have it to her.
She is survived by her daughter Elouise Davis Mikulenka and husband Jim; sons Gerald Wayne Davis, Thomas Earl Davis and wife Phyllis, and William Douglas Davis and wife Dawn; sixteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
A visitation with the family will be on Thursday, June 26, 2014, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 South Main, in Anahuac, Texas.
A visitation with family and friends will be on Friday, June 27, 2014 from Noon until 2:00 PM at Bon Wier Pentecostal Church, 133 FM 1416, where funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Glen Burks officiating.
Serving as pallbearers for Mrs. Davis will be Gerald Davis, William Davis, Michael Davis, Roland Fannin, James Fannin and Keith Castle.
Interment will follow in Ford Cemetery.
