Gretchen Chandler

Gretchen Wand Chandler, 67, of Anahuac, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 31, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas to Lee and Eleanor Wand. Gretchen graduated from Corsicana High School in 1967 and attended Navarro Junior College.

Gretchen and her loving husband of 48 years, Terry Chandler relocated from Houston making Anahuac their home for the past 32 years. She worked for McJunkin Corporation of Baytown for many years. Gretchen had spent the last 11½ years battling stage 4 colon cancer and was often seen wearing her favorite “Cancer Sucks” shirt.

Gretchen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed fishing, antiquing and working crossword puzzles. Gretchen’s biggest passion was spending time with her family.

Gretchen was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband Terry Chandler; her daughters Amy Hinojosa and husband Marco of Anahuac, Texas and Laura Simmons and husband Jamie of Sequim, Washington; her grandchildren Gabby, Iggy and Nick Hinojosa and Katelyn and Alyssa Simmons; her sister Shary Lynn Robertson of Oklahoma; and a number of loving relatives and friends. Gretchen will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm until 7pm on Friday, March 31, 2017 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main Street, Anahuac, Texas. A celebration of Gretchen’s life will be held at 10am on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.
