Teresa W. Limerick

Teresa Limerick, known by her family as Mema, was one of the most loving women on earth.  She always had a smile on her face and usually walked around humming church hymns. 

Teresa spent 91 years, 10 months, and 6 wonderful days on this earth.  She was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1927.  She enjoyed being outdoors with her siblings, parents and grandparents either working in the fields or running up and down the beaches.  Teresa met the “first love of her life”, James Watson, in 1942 before he joined the Army.  He was honorably discharged after multiple injuries, and in 1945 they married and started their family, having 4 children, James (Jimbo), Anne, Barbara, and Charles (Chuck).  They enjoyed the outdoors, raising bird dogs, and cooking hogs in a pit dug in the yard (which is still a family tradition to this day).  At the young Age of 46, James passed away.  Three years later she met the “second love of her life”, David Limerick, and in 1973 moved to his hometown of Anahuac, Texas.  They often traveled to Louisiana to the Limerick family farm where they spent much of their retirement after all the kids were grown and starting their own families. She enjoyed riding in that old blue dodge truck looking for cows, watching the alligators in the bayou behind the house, and shopping all the flea markets.

She loved watching her grandchildren grow up raising animals, perform in rodeos, football games, beach days, fishing and making real North Carolina cobbler with the blackberries they picked on summer mornings.

She told everyone she knew of her love for her family and God.  She was an accomplished artist, loved cooking, shopping at Macys, and talking to friends and family about the good old days.  Church was very important to her throughout her life and she especially loved decorating the church and her home for Christmas. 

Teresa always looked on the bright side of all situations; she was the definition of unconditional love, and never gave up her will to live.  She truly spent her entire life devoted to God and her family, and if you knew her, you were her family, and she loved you.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, husbands James and David, three brothers, and eldest son Jimbo.  She is survived by her children, Anne and David Martin, Barbara and Mark Hainley, and Chuck and Missy Watson; Grandchildren, Chris and Cortney Watson, Kelly O’Banion, Catherine and Bobby Roggenbuck, Adam Hainley and Daniel Catalan, Jeremy  and Krysta Watson, Leanne Martin, Kandi and Travis Thornton, David Watson, and Dalvin Whittington; Great grandchildren, Christopher O’Banion, Travis Watson, Jonathan O’Banion, Baylee and Brooke Watson, Will, Anna Claire and Luke Roggenbuck, Remi Thornton, and Riley Jack and Lanie Watson, and numerous friends and extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 27th, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Anahuac, Texas, with visitation at two o’clock in the afternoon and services beginning at three o’clock.
