Tribute

Philip Baker, 64, of Dayton, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2020, at his home. He was born on September 10, 1955, in Evergreen Park, Illinois to the late William Leonard and Dolores Elizabeth Philbin Baker. Heavy heart this morning.

Preceded in death by father, William Leonard (59) and Mother, Dolores E. Philbin (90). Sister's Loretta Ann Wice, (69), Rose Ann Macku (59). Brothers, William Leonard (69), and Alan Richard ( 64) and survived by Kenneth J Baker. A long-time resident of Dayton, Texas, Phil had survived two horrific accidents in his life, one having survived 17 facial fractures & eating through a straw for 3 months and the other having lost his left leg, a complete amputation in a motorcycle accident 34 years ago. I've never seen or known a man of such character and will to live as his! He once shared with me, a vision from which he was looking down on his own body, on that operating table and a voice of "not ready for you yet" His strength and determination to maintain a home for his family while in a wheelchair for many years was "by many neighbor's accounts", unbelievable and such an inspiration." He leaves behind 2 daughters, Christina and Rachel, 3 sons, Phil Jr. Christopher and Patrick! His wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest amongst the family in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery and Mausoleum in Chicago Ridge, Illinois. His relationship with our God was a blessing. He will be dearly missed!
