Tribute

Dan Chambliss, age 60, passed away on Tuesday, March 5 in Baytown, TX.  He was born in Anahuac, TX to parents Jack Edward Chambliss and Audrey Jean Chambliss. As the youngest of three children, Dan was full of life, both clever and mischievous.

Dan earned his Bachelors of Business Administration from Southwest Texas University in San Marcos. Dan was sharp and extremely intelligent. He went on to hold managerial roles in various organizations, including Long John Silver’s, Wendy’s and O’Reily’s. Dan had an extremely solid work ethic and excelled in his roles throughout his career. Dan understood the value of the dollar and the importance of saving. Some could tease that he likely still owns the first dollar he ever earned.

Countless hours of looking up to his father, Jack, and learning to fish and hunt resulted in lifelong love and respect for guns. Dan has an astounding gun collection and thoroughly enjoyed shooting.

Dan met his wife Holli while managing at Long John’s in 1993. While Holli was always his favorite employee, they worked side-by-side for a couple years before starting a relationship. Holli and Dan married in Las Vegas on July 4, 2000. It was obvious to all that spent time around Dan and Holli, that Dan absolutely adored his wife. As Dan shared his love of fishing with Holli, he would call her the “Croaker Queen” because she managed to catch more fish than him. The two were inseparable and enjoyed taking regular trips to Las Vegas and attending art shows and festivals in various cities.

Dan will be greatly missed and remembered by his loved ones. Dan is survived by his wife Holli Chambliss; his stepchildren Will and Sabrina Dillard and Shane and Dena Fisher; his 5 grandchildren, Raven, Gavin, Jay-Cee, Emma and Hayes; his brother Barney Chambliss; and his sister Jackie “Cissy” Closson. Dan was preceded in death by his father Jack Edward Chambliss and his mother Audrey Jean Chambliss.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, TX.
