Anna Belle Meritt

Anna Belle Meritt, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 15, 2018, in Katy, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 10, 1926, in Golden Gate, Illinois to the late Edward L. Elliott and Hattie B. Elliott. Anna graduated from Albion High School in 1944. 

Anna married James Fletcher Meritt in Toledo, Ohio, where they lived for several years. They later returned to Golden Gate, Illinois, where Anna operated her beauty salon for many years. Anna eventually relocated to Chicago to work for United Airlines until her retirement. 

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James F. Meritt; her daughter Kathy Ann Dolgner; her two sisters Kathern Quindry and Mabel Headly; and her four brothers Ivan, Loyd, Raymond and Ralph Elliott. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her son James B. Meritt; her three grandchildren Frances Jane Meritt and husband Tom, W. James Meritt and wife Dawn and Rick Dolgner; her eleven great-grandchildren; her six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. 

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6pm until 8pm on Friday, June 22, 2018, at Nale’s Funeral Home, 106 E. Center Street, Fairfield, Illinois 62837. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Nale’s Funeral Home. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Simpson Cemetery.
