William “Bill” Kenneth Purser, 64, of Anahuac, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 in Beaumont, Texas. He was born on May 23, 1953 in El Paso, Texas to James Alan and Hallie Lucille Wilson Purser. Bill graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1971 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1975 from East Texas Baptist College. 

Bill was a retired paramedic and had worked in Chambers County Dispatch for more than 17 years. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Liberty, the Chambers County Historical Commission and the NRA. 

Bill was a kind, witty, funny and knowledgeable man who was very outgoing. He was loved by many, never met a stranger and loved unconditionally. He enjoyed baseball and was an avid Houston Astros fan. Bill also enjoyed cruising with his wife, Amy, camping and fishing. But most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter Starla Royer; and his brother Jim Purser. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 27 years, Amy Northcutt-Purser; his children Jessica Purser of Lumberton, Chelsye Hernandez and husband Dale of Lumberton, Natalyn Royer and husband Mitchell of Anahuac, Rusty Rakestraw and wife Mary of Anahuac and Diana Rakestraw of New York; his grandchildren Isabelle, Joshua and Hallye Jo Hernandez, Casey Royer and wife Brooke, Elizabeth Kemp and husband John, Cole Newton and wife Kelly, Cash Newton, Macey, Wyatt and Shane Rakestraw; his great-grandchildren Blake Newton, Stoni and Blake Royer; his sister Dorothy Colby and husband Rob of Chicago; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. 

A memorial service in Bill’s honor will be held at 11am on Monday, March 5, 2018 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main Street in Anahuac. A celebration of life will be held immediately following the memorial service at the oyster bar at the Crawfish Place, 5809 TX-61, Anahuac, Texas. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made in Bill’s honor to the National Kidney Foundation, the Chambers County Historical Commission or to an animal rescue of choice.
