William B. Dickson

March 27, 1930 ~ April 26, 2019 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

We thank God for the life of Mr. William B. Dickson, Jr. (Uncle Jr.), the last-born child of the late Mr. William B. Dickson, Sr. and Mrs. Ida Lastky Dickson born in Penelope, Texas on March 27, 1930. He attended school in Waco, Texas and was a graduate of Prairie View A&M, where he majored in Education. Mr. Dickson proudly served his country as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. During his time in the military, he received a National Defense Service Medal.

Mr. Dickson spent more than 35 years teaching Mathematics and coaching sports for both Houston and Liberty, Texas school districts. After retiring from Liberty ISD, he continued working as a bus driver for the district. Mr. Dickson was also a well-known disc-jockey for KPXE and KSHN in Liberty, Texas for 47 years. He was better known as “Crown Prince”, master of soul radio, disco, and dominos.

Mr. Dickson confirmed his faith in Christ early on in his life. He was a dedicated Christian who loved the Lord. The angel of silence entered his life on Friday evening, April 26th, 2019. Mr. Dickson personally expressed before his passing, “Bobbie I made it. Thank you, my God, for letting me live in this beautiful world.”

Mr. Dickson was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Ms. Jack Estelle Dickson Jones and Ms. Pearline Dickson Martin; and his loving wife of 51 years, the late Mrs. Bobbie Dickson. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his daughter Jocelyn Dickson McCain; his two nieces Charlyne Jones-McGilvery and Lydia Jones-Deeds; his two great-nephews Almonté McGilvery and Kalar Davis; his dedicated caregivers and extended family Amy Webb, Lucy Webb, Chris Williams, Grace Rawls, Tonya Vera, Kim Finley, Michael Semien and Carolyn Holland; and a host of other loving relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Ross Morris, Andy Waldrop, Don Samuel, Marvin Sorrels, Dennis Steward, and Louis Baldwin, Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Williams, Alvin Fox Roberts, Michael Haley and William Lewis, Jr.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10am until 12pm on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the Berean Tabernacle Baptist Church located at 405 TX-146 in Liberty. Funeral services will begin at 12pm at the church with Rev. Richard Ayers, Jr. officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Palms Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton.
