Wilber Allen Dewey, 77, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in Houston, Texas. He was born on November 5, 1940 in Bertrand, Nebraska to Charles Henry Dewey and Vera Armenta Cole Dewey and had resided in Dayton for many years.

Wilber had a great sense of humor and was quite the jokester. He was outgoing and would talk to anyone that talked to him. Wilber enjoyed watching old western movies, woodworking, old cars, especially Studebakers, and tinkering on just about anything he could find broken. He would work on all type of projects that he could find.

Wilber was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Wilber and his wife Patsy were active in fostering children and had opened their home and cared for many children for more than 20 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Wilber was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Patsy Hogg Dewey; and his brothers Delbert and Donald Dewey. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters Jacklyn Dewey Varnell and husband Brandon of Dayton, Jessica Sills and husband Cody of Dayton, Tammy Snowden and husband Donald of Katy and,Tracy Dewey of Dayton; his sons Jonathan Dewey of Spring, Andrew Dewey of San Antonio, Taylor Dewey and Ray Dewey both of Dayton; his grandchildren D.J. Snowden, Kristen Dewey, Daniel Snowden, Jonastyn Thorson, Manney Dewey, And Lilly Anne Varnell; his siblings Betty Medley, Doris Hansen, Gweneth Schmidt, Virginia Trinnier, Sharon Brungardt, Charles Dewey and Shirley Kennedy; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan Dewey, Brandon Varnell, Cody Sills, Manney Dewey, Michael Nelson, and Jonastyn Thorson.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6pm until 8pm on Friday, March 2, 2018 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Sterling Funeral Home. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Palms Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton, Texas.
