Terry Bennett

Terry Renee Bennett, 57, of Porter, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 7, 2019 in Galveston, Texas. She was born on June 24, 1961 in Channelview, Texas to Jimmy and Reba Gill Thacker. Terry was one of four children born to Jimmy and Reba. She graduated in 1979 from C.E. King High School in the Sheldon area. 

Terry was a loving, kind, and generous wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She enjoyed fishing, spending time at her Crystal Beach home and riding on her candy apple green golf cart along the beach. But what Terry enjoyed most was spending quality time with her husband, her children and her family. She adored her three children, her nieces and nephews and was passionate about kids; always treating them all as her own. 

Terry was a member of her neighborhood Christmas association. She was the queen of Christmas decorations and there was never too much. It was important to her to decorate her home each year to maintain her Christmas decoration dynasty. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Terry was preceded in death by her brother Bobby Thacker. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 34½ years, Mike Bennett; her children Jason Wilkins of Porter, Linda Bennett of Poolville, Texas and Jennifer Bennett and fiancé Greg Briley of Conroe; her grandchildren Anthony, Aaron and Riley Headspeth; her father Jimmy Thacker; her mother Reba Thacker and Bobby Pillow of Kenefick; her siblings David Thacker and wife Tami of Dayton and Sharon Johnson and husband Virgil of Kenefick; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. 

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas with Windell Gill officiating. Friends are invited to gather with the family beginning at 1pm.
