Stephen Roscoe Berber, Sr., a beloved figure known for his larger-than-life personality and deep love for nature and animals, passed away at the age of 55 at his home in Dayton, Texas, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Stephen was born to the late David and Ruby Gill Berber on January 3, 1969, in Houston, Texas. Growing up, he developed a profound passion for watching animals in their natural habitats, which led him to care for two dogs and a flock of 16 chickens. His eccentric and animated nature made him a joy to be around, and his immense heart overflowed with love for everyone he encountered, treating them as his own.

His unabashed expression of self, whether right or wrong, added a colorful dimension to his character. Stephen enjoyed watching old westerns, reflecting his adventurous spirit and appreciation for timeless tales.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; and his uncle, Joseph Gill. He is survived by his loving companion of 31 years, Terri Pittsenbargar; and his children: Michael Pittsenbargar and wife Roseanna Ramirez of Neches, Texas; Jonathan Pittsenbargar of Dayton, Texas; Stephen Berber, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Eric Berber and wife Ashley Hicks of Dayton, Texas. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Layla Pittsenbargar, Shiloh Pittsenbargar, Eli Pittsenbargar, Chance Berber, and Stormie Berber. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings David Berber, Susie Berber, Angel Berber, and Allison Jackson.

A visitation to honor Stephen's life will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 5 pm to 6 pm, followed by a service at 6 pm at Sterling Funeral Home, located at 602 N Main Street in Dayton, Texas.

Stephen will be remembered for his warmth, zest for life, and the enduring impact of his loving spirit on all who knew him.
