Sandra lived in Baytown, Texas until 1960 when her Mother and Stepfather, J. W. Griffin, decided to move to their home on Lake Anahuac. After graduation from Anahuac High School, she attended Sam Houston State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and teaching certificate in English and French. She also attended Stephen F. Later she attended the University of St. Thomas where she earned her certification in gifted and talented education and taught GT K-5 for the last fifteen years of her 45 year teaching career. Sandra loved teaching and spent many of her Summer days planning lessons and activities for the upcoming school years.

Sandra was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, The American Home Department of Fine Arts, Kappa Delta Pi and a Gatorfest Ambassador. She loved raising her two children in Anahuac and participated in every event and organization they were in by volunteering her time and efforts to help in any way she could. Along with her family, she loved being outdoors and enjoying the wonders of God's creations. Her favorite hobbies were photography, gardening and home decorating. She loved photographing people and things in nature, especially flowers. After retirement she joined a Thursday Ladies domino group which she after said was the highlight of her week. She also loved her standing Wednesday night meals at Napolitos with her dear couple friends. Sandra adored her two grandchildren and spent as much time as she could with them. She often said, "When I am with them, my time is there's.” She did her best to make every moment with them a memorable, fun adventure and learning experience.
