Sandra Gail Hollis

Sandra Gail Hollis, 69, of Kenefick, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston. She was born on August 24, 1949, in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Ulysses and Mae Victoria Richard Mallet. Sandra graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, class of 1967. After graduating she attended Mims Beauty School where she obtained her cosmetology license.

Sandra worked at Baker Williford Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician for several years. She also worked as a produce manager for H-E-B in Nederland for 17 years. In 1999, Sandra officially retired from working and enjoyed looking forward to spending time with her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.

Sandra was a former member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Port Neches. She pursued many interests, some of which included her love of hunting and fishing. You could always find Sandra fishing with her daddy at the lake house in Toledo Bend. She also enjoyed playing slots and most of all, spending time with her family.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 16 years John Hollis; her former husband Rodney Powell of Nederland; her children Brandi Pickens and husband Larry of Houston, April Plyler and husband Clint of Pennsylvania, Lori Friedman and husband Mike of Beaumont, Rodney Powell and wife Larissa of Kingwood, John Hollis of Midland and Stacie Hollis and wife Krystal of Sherman; her grandchildren Kyler, Rylan, Dylan, Kolten, Addisyn, Brooklyn, Hunter, Lindsey, Frances, Ben, Isabelle, Johnathan, Shawn, Autumn, Courtney, Christopher, Isis, Aubrey and Makensie; her siblings Danny Mallet and wife Molly of Port Neches, Donna Mallet of Kenefick and Wayne Mallet and wife Darlene of Spring; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A celebration of Sandra’s life will be held at 5pm on Saturday, June 22, 2019, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street in Dayton, with Deacon Rodney Powell officiating.
