Ruth E. Thibodeaux

Ruth E. Thibodeaux, 78, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 in Webster, Texas. She was born on April 12, 1939 in Reddell, Louisiana to Edgus and Lazzie Bogard Ardoin. In 1957, Ruth married the love of her life, Joseph Howard Thibodeaux. 

Ruth was an avid football fan of the New Orleans Saints, LSU and the Houston Texans. She enjoyed watching old Westerns, Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. Ruth was a strong, independent woman who loved her family dearly. She was very loving and nurturing but was always a hard hitter and straight to the point. Ruth also enjoyed doing arts and crafts, quilting, sewing, crocheting, embroidery and playing penny slot machines. 

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph Howard Thibodeaux; her grandson Cody Deville; her great-granddaughter Harlee Dowdy; her brothers Royce and Holland Ardoin; and sisters Lou Guillory and Woolvis Augustine Pugh. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Julie Vestal and husband Johnny, Vickie Bentley, Carol Nowak and husband Wayne and Chris Thibodeaux and wife Becky; her twelve grandchildren; her twelve great-grandchildren; her sister Laris Kibodeaux; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Ruth will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Chris Thibodeaux, Johnny Vestal, Ty Vestal, Robert Starnes, Nick Boland, Brandon Boland and Chris Dowdy. 

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6pm until 8pm on Friday, February 16, 2018 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas, with a Rosary to be recited at 7pm. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10am on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 804 S. Cleveland Street in Dayton. Rite of committal will immediately follow in Reeves Cemetery in Old River-Winfree.
