September 7, 1940 ~ January 20, 2018 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Melvin Joe Hracek, 77, longtime resident of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Humble, Texas. He was born on September 7, 1940 in Dayton, Texas to Frank and Lucy Zalenski Hracek. Melvin graduated from Dayton High School in 1958. He worked as a supervisor and instructor in the oilfield industry for many years. Melvin and his wife Glenda traveled and lived all over the world before resettling in the Dayton area.

Melvin was a loving husband, always wanting to make things easier for his wife by cooking and cleaning for her. He enjoyed picking on her when he could and loved her more than life itself. Melvin also enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, camping, bowling and dancing. He was a very generous and thoughtful man that liked to help others in a time of need. Melvin had a big heart and would often assist the elderly in repairing their lawn equipment at his expense.

Melvin was an avid volunteer to his community. He once coached a girl’s baseball team for Cameron Iron that won first place in a local championship. Melvin was also very dedicated to his service as a Mason for countless years.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Ray Gene Hracek. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 44 years, Glenda Ashworth Hracek; his siblings Stanley Hracek and Janie Hracek Jones; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

It was Melvin’s wishes to be cremated and have a Masonic graveside service at a later date to be announced.
