Luan Alaniz, 80, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at her home in Dayton, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 6, 1938 in George West, Texas to Leo and Ruby Tate Holland.

Luan has resided in the Dayton area for the past year and a half. She relocated from Mont Belvieu where she lived for roughly ten years and Las Vegas, New Mexico before that. Luan was the family historian who loved researching her family roots. She was the family tree expert and spent hours on studying ancestry and genealogy. Luan pursued many interests, but her most of all she enjoyed playing games on her computer, Royal Story being her favorite.

Luan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Luan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Luis Arturo Alaniz; her brothers James “Jim” Holland and Wayne Shepherd; and her brother-in-law Mack Workman. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her loving children Michael Luis Alaniz and wife Sheila of Sapello, New Mexico, Curtis Allen Alaniz and wife Karen of Mission, Donna Beam and Terry Strother of Dayton, Robert Arthur Alaniz of Lewisville and Debra Lynn Patten and David Liescheski of Pearland; her grandchildren Michael Alaniz and wife Cynthia, Michelle Lujan and husband Leroy, Kendra Howard, Kim Alaniz-Pascoe, Corey Austin Beam and finance Tabatha Sessions and Nicole Patten; her ten great-grandchildren; her siblings Pat Workman, Leslie Lync and husband Rodney, Rodney Shepherd and wife Jennifer, David Shepherd and wife Marilyn and Stewart Shepherd and wife Pat; her sister-in-laws Pat Holland and Frances Shepherd; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A graveside service and committal will be held at 12pm on Saturday, March 23, 2019 in the Freer Cemetery in Freer, Texas with Michael Alaniz, officiating.
