Kris Edward Mourer, 57, of Dayton, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at his home. He was born on January 8, 1960 in Gary, Indiana to William and Winnie Ross Mourer. Kris was a talented carpenter for many years and had worked with various companies such as Enron, Jacobs, Fluor Daniel and Texas Turnkey. He was a major Geocacher who also had a small business on eBay called Texas Pull Tab.

Kris was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to many who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. He was a master jokester that had a fascination with creating a unique nickname for everyone in his life. Kris was a huge Chicago Cubs fan, never letting anything get in the way of watching them play. He was given the opportunity for his 50th birthday to spend in Chicago and to attend a Cubs game in Wrigley Field. Kris had several hobbies, some of which included fishing, collecting coins and beer cans.

Kris was a member of the Dayton First Assembly of God, a former assistant CubMaster for Pack 8 in Dayton and served with the Airborne National Guard. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Kris was preceded in death by his father; his brother and best friend David Wayne Mourer; and nephew Luke Pafford. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 25 years Johnnye Faye Mourer; his son Travis Wayne Mourer; his mother and stepfather Winnie and Buck Bush; his sisters Jamie Mathis and Linda Bush; his brother Robert Bush; his sister-in-law Rosetta Mourer; his children of heart Josh, Laura, Amanda, Michael and Robert; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 10am on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Dayton First Assembly of God located at 2829 FM 1960, Dayton, Texas. A funeral service will begin at 11am with Pastor Rich Cope officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Cedarcrest Cemetery in Baytown.
