Kelly Jones Price, 55, of Cove, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at her home in Cove. She was born on November 24, 1965, in Lufkin, Texas to W.M. “Bill” Jones and the late Gloria Forsythe Jones. Kelly graduated from Crosby High School in Crosby, Texas, the class of 1984.
Before her official retirement in 2012, Kelly worked at the Jacinto City Senior Citizen Activity Center for several years. Prior to that role, she worked at Channelview ISD with special needs children for six years. Kelly was a nurturer and very good with children and people, which made her amazing at what she did in her work with the children at CISD.
Kelly was funny, beautiful, and had a smile that could light up any room. She was also a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. Kelly was dedicated in her faith and loved the Lord. She was a member of the White Horse Revival Church in Cove.
Kelly was an avid outdoors enthusiast, taking up hobbies that would allow her to spend time outside. She enjoyed plants and gardening, riding motorcycles, and fishing. She also loved her cats and cooking, especially a favorite meal for a family member’s birthday. Kelly will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Kelly was preceded in death by her mother; and her daughter Nicole Ballard Lash. She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, her husband of eleven years, Don Price; her children Erin Bodie, Racie Ballard, Zachary D. Price, and wife Jade and Andrew G. Price and wife Paige; her grandchildren Tayler, Joseph, Axton, Conner, Waylon, Madeline, Noah, and Abigail; her father W.M. “Bill” Jones; her siblings Rhonda Jones Pyle and husband Mark and Barry Jones and wife Helen; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm until 8pm on Friday, September 24, 2021, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas. A time for sharing memories will begin at 6:30pm at the funeral home. If you have a special memory but are unable to attend or share, please write it down and it will be read aloud. A graveside service and committal will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 25, 2021, in the chapel at Pedigo Cemetery in Woodville, Texas, with Dave Lancon, officiating. The family would like for those in attendance, to please dress comfortably for the services as it is what Kelly would want. The Pedigo House will be open for refreshments following the graveside services.
