Tribute

Karen Elizabeth Sandefur, age 61, stepped into eternal glory on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 in the presence of family.  Karen was born on March 8, 1963, in Houston, Tx, the baby daughter of the late Smedley Joseph and Eula Mae Navarre Frugé.

Karen grew up in Jacinto City where she played softball, attended Furr High School, and met the love of her life, Sandy Allen.

Throughout her life, she was a dedicated employee working as a Commissioner’s secretary for Liberty County Precinct 4 until her well-deserved retirement.

She was a voice for justice, and always advocated on behalf of others.  For a short period of time, she even served in the Republican Party in Liberty County.  Her latest of endeavors was her Girly Food ‘truck’ where you could find both the biggest smile and best chicken salad accompanied by prayer.

Karen’s ultimate passion was sharing the love of Jesus, not her love for Him rather His love for all.  Her delight and joy was to serve her house of prayer, Cornerstone Church in Liberty, Texas.

Faithful to serve in various areas, she led a prayer group, managed the hospitality ministry, exhorted the body of Christ, and performed many unseen & unknown acts of services. Karen’s warmth knew no bounds, extending her nurturing embrace as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Her culinary gift was legendary thanks to her Cajun roots of which she was so proud.  She loved to feed people.  Every dish bearing the imprint of her love, earning her the admiration of all who sampled her creations.

A pillar of affection and intentionality, Karen radiated love in every interaction, cherishing her family and embracing her extended kin with equal fervor. She found immense joy in supporting

the Liberty High School baseball team and relished the moments spent cheering on her grandchildren as they pursued their passions on the field, in the pool, or simply in the warmth of

family gatherings, with her diva pup, Lady, by her side.

Karen is reunited with her beloved parents and siblings, Shirley Ann Gooch and Gary James Frugé. Left to carry her legacy forward is her devoted husband of 44 years, Sandy Allen Sandefur; her loving children, Alicia Alvarez and husband Sender of Liberty, and Bret Sandefur and wife Kacey of Hankamer; her cherished grandchildren, Kody Sandefur, Carson Alvarez, Ryder Alvarez, and Lyla Alvarez; her siblings, Diane Janak and husband Jimmy of Huffman, Burke Fruge and wife Rindy of Crosby, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of dear friends.

Honoring the family as pallbearers are, Brian Edwards, Jesse Lozano, Sender Alvarez, Kody Sandefur, Thomas Tucker, Hunter Heath, Ethan Duhon and Blake Burrow. Honorary pallbearers

are, Jonah Sivec, Carson Alvarez, and Ryder Alvarez.

As we gather to celebrate her life, let us rejoice in shared memories and draw from the well of the one she deeply loved, Jesus.
