Johnny Ray Hartis, 68, of Highlands, Texas, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, in Baytown, Texas. He was born on October 7, 1952, in Baytown, Texas, to the late Richard and Lois Bardwell Hartis. Throughout his childhood, he resided in Baytown, where he also attended and graduated high school. 

Johnny worked in the construction industry for many years as a professional painter. A man who pursued many interests, some of which included spending time with his family, playing his guitar which he was passionate about, and attending church services at Lakewood Church in Houston. He was the happiest whenever he had all of his brothers around him. 

Johnny was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Lois Hartis; his grandparents Buddy and Jessie Day; his brothers Richard Hartis, Gayland Hartis, and Ronald Hartis; and his nieces Tammy and Sandy Hartis. Johnny leaves behind to cherish his memory his children Tim Wadsworth and wife Portia, Patrick Wadsworth, Jimmy Wadsworth, Lois Hartis and significant other Matthew Ball; his grandchildren Kayden, Alyssa, McKenna,  and Madeline Wadsworth, Izaya Ray, Forrest, Zach, and Zoie Hartis, Emma Gage, Avis, and Baby Patrick Wadsworth; his nephews Tommy Hartis, Darby Hartis, and Shawn Hartis; his nieces Kimberly Hartis, Beckey Pritchett, Janie Dixon, Charity Naismith, and Shannon Hartis; and a host  of other relatives and friends. 

A celebration of Johnny’s life will be held on at 5:30pm, on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Eastgate Church, 1707 County Road 611, Dayton, Texas, 77535. 

It was Johnny’s wish to be cremated and to be remembered by all as the funny and loving man that he was.
