Johnnie R. "Bob" Williams

November 5, 1946 ~ November 19, 2018 (age 72)

Johnnie Robert (Bob) Williams, of Anahuac, Texas, passed away on November 19, 2018. He was born on November 5, 1946 in Stephensville, Texas to Johnnie and Iona Williams. They moved to Winnie in 1959. Bob was a graduate of East Chambers High School, Class of 1965. He attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During this time, he met Gay Baker and was also drafted into the Army. Bob and Gay married in 1967, then in March of 1968, he left for Vietnam. After the Army, Bob worked for Thornton Marine Service as a boat captain for many years. Afterwards he worked for Cash America Pawn until retiring in October of 2014.

Bob had many interests. Among his hobbies were gardening, fishing and woodworking. He was a charter member of Sons of the Confederate Camp 2107 and a member of the American Legion Post 0104 in Anahuac.

He loved his family and his grandchildren will always remember him for his corny jokes, which they loved. They thought he knew everything because he was a walking encyclopedia of facts or trivia.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Johnnie H. Williams; his son Nathan Dewayne Williams; his sister Louise Jay; his brother-in-law Andy Thornton; his mother-in-law Shurrel Baker; and his brother-in-law Kenneth Baker. Surviving to happily remember Bob are his mother Iona Williams; his wife Gay Williams; his daughter Shellie Williams Loria; his sister Lounette Thornton; his grandchildren Daniel Loria and wife Samantha, Emily Loria Cantu and husband Justin, David Loria and Sarah Loria; his great-grandson Rendan Loria; his nieces and nephews Roy Jay, Dianna Frederick, Buck Thornton, Steven Baker and Stacy Baker; his great-nieces and nephews Matthew Baker, Lee Thornton, Aden Thornton, Mallory Frederick and Drew Frederick; and always our sweet Misty Kaderli; and our “adopted son” Dwain Land.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Roy Jay, Daniel Loria, David Loria, Justin Cantu, DeWayne Stratton and Dwain Land.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm until 7pm on Friday, November 23, 2018 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main Street in Anahuac. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Sterling Funeral Home, with Pastor Bill Walles officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in the Thorton Williams Family Cemetery in Stowell. The family would like to request a business casual attire for Bob’s services.
