John W. Chambers, 78, of Madisonville, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019, in Conroe, Texas. He was born on February 21, 1941, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to the late Andrew V. and Ethel B. Yerger Chambers.
John worked as an operator and supervisor for Equistar in Deer Park for 34 years before retiring in 1999. He was dedicated, hardworking and a tough man who people looked up too. John was also gentle, caring and would do anything for anyone, especially his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
John pursued many interests, some of which included playing dominos, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed mowing, doing yard work and having a perfectly manicured lawn. John also liked traveling all over the country with his wife, Gaylean.
John previously resided in Dayton for 12 years and Pasadena, before he and Gaylean called Madisonville home.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his son Johnny Ray Chambers; his siblings Peggy Scudder, Lucille Bowden, Betty Buxman and Clydene Smith. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory, his wife of 32 years Gaylean Chambers; his children, Randy Chambers and wife Dorothy, Kim Lambright and husband Jeff and Virginia Hector and husband Eddie; his stepchildren, Brett Wolfe and wife Heather, Angie Vanderploeg and Jenn Arnold and husband Chris; his 25 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Hector, Luke Lambright, Jeff Lambright, Randy Chambers, William Hector, and Justin Hector. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua and Johnny Chambers.
Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 10am on Thursday, June 27, 2019, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street in Dayton. A funeral service will begin at 11am, with Pastor Cameron Eiland, officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Palms Memorial Park in Dayton.
