John Alfred Blasdel, Jr. of Mont Belvieu, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2021 at his daughter’s home with his children by his side. He was 92 years old. John was born on November 15, 1928 in Houston, Texas to John Alfred, Sr. and Anna Cecelia (Pollock) Blasdel. John graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School in Rosenberg, Texas. He was attending the School of Engineering at the University of Texas in Austin at the time he was drafted into the US Army. He proudly served our country in the Korean War from 1950-1952 and rose to the rank of Master Sergeant.

He was a project planner at Austin Industries until his retirement around the age of 74. After retirement, he devoted his time and energy to his family. He vacationed with his children and wife of 59 years, Edna Mae (LaFour) Blasdel, who died in 2017. They made a Hill Country trip an annual family vacation. Being that he was a master carpenter he was always helping family members with woodworking projects. 

Preceding him in death is his infant son, Francis Lee Blasdel, who passed away shortly after birth in 1959, as well as his sisters, Carolyn Eleckel and Dorothy Wheeler.

He is survived by 3 children, daughter Melissa (Blasdel) Rollo and husband Gary, sons Virgil Blasdel and wife Danita, Joseph Blasdel as well as 6 grandchildren, Lori Rollo, Kelli Rollo, Morgan Blasdel, Joshua Blasdel, Rush and Peyton Herrington, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 sister, Patricia Wheaton.
