Jill Rives

Jill Charlton Rives Crittenden, 69, of Oak Island, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2019, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 2, 1950, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Jimmy Edward and Faye Rosewell Charlton. Jill was the 7th of 9 children and due to her dad’s job, they were raised in numerous small Texas towns, including Liberty-Hardin area where she married Gary Louis Rives. They were blessed with two sons, Gary Lynn Rives and Ernest Ray Rives of Oak Island, Texas.

Jill relocated to Oak Island where she met her husband John Crittenden and had resided for the past 30 years. She had worked for several years as a store clerk for Hisler Grocery. Jill was a southern Baptist and loyal sister at the Oak Island Baptist Church. She was dedicated to her faith and enjoyed attending church. Jill could carry a tune, loved to sing and listen to old classic country. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jill was preceded in death and waiting for her in heaven is her parents; her sisters Juanita Aydelotte, Janice Hudson Hariston; and her brothers Jerry Charlton and Jimmy Michael Charlton. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband John Crittenden; her sons Gary and Ernest Rives; her sisters JoAnn Chenall, Jennifer Chavez and Jeanette Chenall; her granddaughter Kayla; her great-grandson Evan Rives; her stepdaughters Cheryl Jacobs and husband Stephen and Joni Lynn West; her brother Jack Charlton; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Ernest Rives, Samuel Chavez, Brine Robertson, Stacy Robertson, and Travis Harvell.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm until 7pm on Friday, August 2, 2019, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main Street in Anahuac. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, August 2, 2019, at Sterling Funeral Home, with Bro Rick Jackson officiating. A graveside service and committal will be held at 4:30pm in Omaha Cemetery in Omaha, Texas.
