James Earl Morgan, Sr., 85, of Anahuac, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2021, in Baytown, Texas. He was born on October 12, 1935, in Jasper, Texas, to the late Cleo and Merdie Whitehead Morgan. James graduated from Jasper High School and continued his education and training in order to become a journeyman electrician. He began his service to humanity when he enlisted in the United States Army. After his time in the Army, James was gainfully employed by Gulf States Utilities/Entergy as a service man, where he remained employed until his retirement in the early 1990’s. He also served as a volunteer firefighter, earning top scores in EMT Training/Volunteer emergency Core.
In his lifetime, James wore many hats. He was a caring son, devoted brother, loving husband, father, friend, but most importantly, he was a man of God who was dedicated in his faith. James was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Anahuac; he acted as a deacon for many years, played guitar in the church band and sang in the choir. He was a very giving and generous individual who was also well respected by so many in the community. James had a love of people so much that he never met a stranger.
Although he was kind-hearted, James was ornery in his ways. He loved to pick and joke with his family whenever he was able. He pursued many interests, some of which included hunting and fishing. His favorite hobby of all was spending time with his family and friends. Anyone would be hard pressed to find a person in Anahuac that did not know James Morgan and regard him with respect and affection. He gave off an aura of love that people could not help but feel and made you want to be near him. James was loved by so many, he will be sorely missed, but those who knew him know that he is on the job in Heaven now and serving at the side of the Lord. Knowing that he will spend eternity with his heavenly Father gives peace and comfort to those who loved him.
James spent his life serving others while raising a family and spreading love and cheer to everyone he met. Even in the last few years, while suffering from Dementia, he would go back and relive his service-- answering calls, fixing lines, and saving lives. James was recognized as a Person of the Year by the Anahuac Area Chamber of Commerce.
James was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Edward Morgan. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory, his wife of 56 years Linda Chapman Morgan of Anahuac; his children James Earl “Bubba” Morgan, Jr. and wife April of Jasper, Ramona Warren of Raywood, Karla Morgan of Anahuac, Lisa Morgan of Anahuac, David Morgan and wife Jaime of Baytown; his nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; his brothers Charles Edward Morgan of Jasper and Lum Henry Morgan of Dallas; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
