Tribute

James “Jay” Edgar Lee, 72, of Kenefick, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 24, 1946, in Houston, Texas to the late John Edgar and Rita Joyce Brown Lee. After graduating from high school, Jay enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. At the time of his discharge, he was a Sergeant and had completed special education and training during his service. He also received the National Defense, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign Medals and was a member of ARMY in Communications.

Jay was an appliance technician who owned and operated Lee’s Major Appliance for more than 35 years before his retirement in 2005. He also drove a school bus for the Dayton ISD for 12 years.

Jay loved the great outdoors, especially camping. He was dedicated to scouting and was a former Cub Scout Master and Scout Master for Troop 64. Jay was an avid fan and collector of anything Elvis Presley. If he was listening to Elvis, the entire community could hear it and his room was dedicated and decorated to his favorite star.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers and three sisters. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 23 years Stephanie Stephens Lee of Kenefick; his son James Elliot Lee of Liberty County; his step-daughters Shelly Rossow of Kenefick and Lesa Paulk of Rosenberg; his eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; his sisters Evelyn Lee of Granbury and Patricia Middleton of Kenefick; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Jay will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
