Jacquelyn “Jackie” R. Zachry, 87, of Anahuac, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2019, in Baytown, Texas. She was born on November 16, 1931, in Port Arthur, Texas to the late T.J. and Ruth Williams Rogers. Jackie graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur in 1950 and was a music major at East Texas Baptist College in Marshall.

Jackie dedicated a lifetime of church service. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Anahuac and was a member of Middleton Memorial United Methodist Church in Wallisville where she was also the Director of Music for many years. Jackie loved music and enjoyed sharing her gift with others. She served on the board of directors for the American Heart Association, the Senior Citizens Project, Anahuac Chamber of Commerce and WMU (Women’s Missionary Union). Her death was not the end, but just the beginning of her eternity and the life she lived is a joy to celebrate and she will live on in our memories.

Jackie pursued many interests, some of which included her love of music, decorating, coloring and cooking. She also enjoyed sewing and was an amazing seamstress. Jackie was an avid Astros fan, she loved her cat dearly, birdwatching outside her window each morning and the Texas state flower, the bluebonnet. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; her son John Rogers Zachry; her husband Rufus Hall “Preacher” Zachry; her siblings Bill Rogers and Kathryn Miller; and daughter-in-law Sarah Zachry.
