Horace Dwain Roberts

Horace Dwain “Buddy” Roberts, 75, of Dayton, Texas, passed away with his loving family by his side. He was born on May 29, 1945, in Liberty, Texas, to the late Willie Hazel Lee Roberts and James B. Roberts. Buddy graduated from Liberty High School.

He was a faithful member of Cornerstone Church. Throughout his younger years he enjoyed going to the local jails and being able to minister to the word of God to the inmates.

Buddy was a hardworking man who always put his family first. He worked as a shop foreman in maintenance for Stanley Water Well. He was also employed at The Vindicator where he delivered newspapers to surrounding areas.

Buddy was an honorable man who pursued many interests, some of which included his love for history, riding his bike, going to Brenham to see the bluebonnets as they were his favorite flower. He was also a very skilled carpenter, making bunk beds and picnic tables for Touched by Grace Ministries.

Buddy was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Lois of forty-nine years; his son Dwain Roberts; and his brother Jerry Roberts. Buddy is survived by his daughter Starla Theriot and husband Terry of Dayton; his son Thomas Bowlen of Liberty; his brothers Louis Wayne Roberts and wife Sandy of Tennessee, Douglas Budro and wife Lynn of Winnie, Texas; his six grandchildren; his numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A celebration of Horace’s life will be held at 11am, on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Cornerstone Church, 1693 TX-146, in Liberty.
