Tribute

Helen Fay Tinsley, 68, of Highlands, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home in Crosby, Texas on Friday, April 24, 2020. Helen or “Fay” was born on February 2, 1952, in Channelview, Texas. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Fay loved animals and cherished her two dogs, Abby and Tilly. She was well-loved by her friends and family and will be dearly missed.

Fay pursued many interests, some of which included, baking, decorating, cooking, gardening, working crossword puzzles, crocheting, and various arts and crafts.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents Mary Sarver Cain and Ivy Cain; her husband James Tinsley; her son Brandon Rice; and her siblings Jack (Penny) Cain, Charlie Cain, Robbie Rains, and Iva Dean Parkhill. She is survived by her children Mark Smith, James McLean, Heather McLean, Michael Smith his wife Harley Vanpool; her grandchildren Zak McLean and Elizabeth Smith; her siblings Jimmy Cain, Marybeth Powell, Marvin Cain, Emma “Sissy” Wingate, and Mark Cain; and numerous nieces, nephews; and close friend Diana McLean.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Lannie Triche, Roger Triche, James McLean, Mark Smith, Michael Smith, and Zak McLean.

Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 10am, on Saturday, May 2, 2020, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street in Dayton. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Edwards officiating.  A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in White Cemetery in Highlands.

Due to the current situation with COVID19, attendance at the visitation and service will still be limited to a manageable number of guests and we do encourage the use of face masks for all attendees. We also strongly encourage the at-risk population to watch or participate in the service remotely. It is still recommended to minimize the size of services to keep our families and staff healthy and safe, along with adhering to all health and social distancing requirements as set forth in the new guidance, Exec. Order No. GA 18 at 3 (Apr. 27, 2020)
