Tribute

Horace “Bud” Benjamin Douglas, Jr., 80, of Kenefick, Texas passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in Baytown, Texas. He was born on October 26, 1937 to the late Horace Benjamin Douglas, Sr. and Ruby Mae Childres in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. In 1964, he married the love of his life, Carol Nelson Douglas. After Carol’s passing in 2007, he remarried the late Diane Davies Douglas, who passed away in 2013. Horace lived in Kenefick, Texas for the past 40 years where he attended Kenefick Southern Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.

Horace was preceded in death by his parents; his two loving wives; his daughters Jonell Hinton and Joy McCartney; his grandson Aaron Pinion; and his siblings Louise Valentia, Earline DiBenedetto and Ollie Mae Canjelosi.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories daughters Rita Tolleson and husband Robin of Mont Belvieu, Texas and Regina Bazile and husband Mervin of Springfield, Louisiana; his grandchildren, Bryan McCartney, Joshua McCartney, Kelly Moore, Jenny Garcia and Amber Pinion; his 14 great-grandchildren; his brother Tommie Douglas and wife Darlene of Dayton, Texas; and special nephew Tommie Douglas, Jr. of Palms Springs, California.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Tommie John Douglas, John Watts, Maurice Watts, Russell DiBenedetto, Bryan McCartney, Robert Garcia, Sam Watts and Blake Moore.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm until 8pm on Friday September 7, 2018 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, in Dayton. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday September 8, 2018 in the chapel at Sterling Funeral Home, with Bro Jeff Day, officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton, Texas.
