Gerald Jules Thomassee, 72, of Anahuac, Texas, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 30, 1947, in Cecilia, Louisiana to the late Amanda Angelle and Louis Thomassee, Sr. 

Gerald graduated from Cecilia High School in 1965 and pursued a career in industrial construction. He worked for various companies doing different jobs for many years before his retirement. Gerald was a member of Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Anahuac and St. Louis Parish in Winnie, Texas. 

Gerald was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his family and hosting big family gatherings. Gerald was proud of his Cajun roots and an avid LSU fan. Some of his pastime hobbies included hunting, fishing, and cooking. Gerald was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Ernest Thomassee, Louis Thomassee, Nolan Thomassee, Sue Guidry, and Lillie Zeringue. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory, his beloved wife of 54 years, Beverly Ann Moorman Thomassee; his children Mandi Doucet and husband Keith, Brandi Brown, Tracey Thomassee and wife Kathryn; his grandchildren Jenna Shandy, Jessica Doucet, Joe Keith Bares-Doucet, Brittan and Bethany Brown, Blake and Kali Thomassee, Jerri and Tyler Chapman; his six great-grandchildren; his siblings Carrol Thomassee, Paul Thomassee and wife Pam, Georgie Boutte and Laida Berard and Sherry Thomassee; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. 

Due to the current situation with COVID-19, services will be private and limited to immediate family only and he will be laid to rest in Anahuac Cemetery.

In Pursuant to Executive Order No. GA-08 relating to COVID-19 preparedness and mitigation issued by the Governor of the State of Texas, Greg Abbott, effective March 20, 2020, at 11:59p, Order No. 1 “In accordance with the Guidelines from the President and the CDC, every person in Texas shall avoid social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people”
