Gabriel Hernandez

January 31, 1957 ~ December 13, 2018 (age 61) 61 Years Old

Tribute

Gabriel “Cowboy” Hernandez, 61, resident of Anahuac, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2018, with family by his side. He was born on January 31, 1957 in Ojo De Agua De Nieto, Tarimoro, GTO, Mexico, to Epifanio and Guadalupe Hernandez.

Gabe relocated to the small community in 1974, making Anahuac his home. On February 10, 1978, Gabe married his wife, Socorro Tirado Hernandez.

Gabe was a hard worker who was deeply devoted to helping others. He worked for more than 30 years for Ben and Jeri Nelson at Jeri’s Seafood in Smith Point and working cattle as a rancher for the family. Gabe by nature was always a serious person but, on the inside, had a unique sense of humor. He loved animals and enjoyed nothing more than being a rancher, earning his nickname “Cowboy”.

Gabe had a strong dedication to those he cared for and loved, including his Smith Point family. He looked up to Ben for guidance and inspiration. Gabe was preceded in death by his father, Epifanio Hernandez, and his brother, Abel Hernandez. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 40 years, Socorro Tirado Hernandez; his sons, Jaime Hernandez and wife Amanda, and Rafael Hernandez and fiancé Candace Whittemore; his grandchildren, Annabelle and Gabrielle Hernandez; his mother, Guadalupe Anaya Hernandez; his sisters, Ermelinda Tirado, Irene Hernandez, Amparo Montoya and Ninfa Rosillo; his brothers, Isidro Hernandez, Isidoro Hernandez, Cecilio Hernandez, Eulalio Hernandez, Servando Hernandez and Rafael Hernandez; as well as numerous extended family and special friends. Gabe will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Gabe’s life will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 22, 2018 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main Street in Anahuac.
