Tribute

Doris “Sissy” Marie Cormier, was born on March 26, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas and passed away on March 3, 2018 at her home in Wallisville, Texas. Doris was preceded in death by her father, William Levi Jackson; and her brother, Jack Jackson. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Whitney Cormier, Jr.; her mother Ollie Mae Jackson; her three sons, Gavin Cormier and wife Tina, Christopher Cormier and wife Stacie and Keith Cormier and wife Traci; her 8 grandchildren, Whitney Amber, Joshua, J.T., Levi, Allison, Joseph, Tia and Chace; and her 2 great-grandchildren, Leia and Zaidyn (and two more on the way).

Doris was raised in Katy, Texas. It was in Katy that she met and married Whitney on September 21, 1965. In 1973, they moved to Wallisville, Texas. Raising animals was one of her favorite pastimes. At various times she had horses, mini horses, donkeys, cattle, hogs, chickens, rabbits, ducks, goats, dogs, cats and a llama. The Winnie Sale Barn was a favorite place for her to go and bid on baby calves. They knew her by name and would call her sometimes if she didn’t show up. Sewing was a skill of which she was a master. Doris made many of her own clothes and pieced together beautiful quilts. Besides sewing, she also made a variety of crafts including jewelry and had a booth at Larry’s Trade Days for several years. Hunting squirrels with her double barrel .410 shotgun and cane pole fishing for sun perch were two activities she was very serious about. If you were with her, you had to be quiet and stay out of her way. Doris was a very hard worker and was always busy working on her To-Do-List. Through the years she had several full-time and part-time jobs in the area including the Post Offices in Liberty, Anahuac and Wallisville, the Justice of the Peace Office in Wallisville, Bradley’s Feed Store, the Anahuac ISD High School Cafeteria and the green houses in Anahuac.

Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother dedicated to her family and friends. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her. On behalf of her family, we would like to thank the entire staff of Harbor Hospice and are especially grateful to Ms. Georgia, Ms. Christi and Ms. Nena for the special care they provided for Doris.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Levi Cormier, Joseph Cormier, J.T. Cormier, Chace Cormier, Joshua Cormier and Ryan Ortiz. Honorary pallbearers will be Gavin Cormier, Keith Cormier and Christopher Cormier.
