Donald Watson Hampton, 67, of Anahuac, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 9, 2017 in Kountze, Texas. He was born on July 17, 1950 in Port Arthur, Texas to James Watson and Wilma Lois Keith Hampton. Don graduated from Hardin High School in 1969 and received his Associate’s degree from Mississippi State University. While in Mississippi, he joined the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country. Don was a self-employed construction contractor for more than 34 years and for the past 10 years, he had been working as an independent property adjuster.

Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He had a huge warm heart, strong hands and was a rock and hero to many. Don loved nothing more than helping others whenever he could. He was an adventurous soul who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and dancing. Don always wanted to be a contestant on the reality show Survivor. His favorite hobby of all was the love of his life Barbara, whom he shared a deep and dear love for and spending time with his family. He liked to cook crawfish, barbeque and take outings with family and friends. One of Don’s favorite sayings was “Git U Sum!” He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Maureen West; his brothers Billy Charles Hampton and Pete Hampton; his grandson Christopher Duane Hampton; his nephews Ralph West and James Howard Hampton; and his beloved fur-babies that will be laid to rest with him, Nellie the Lab and Molly the Dachshund. He so loved his canine companions like they were his children. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 12 years Barbara Ann Hampton; his son Donald Duane Hampton and wife Kathi of San Angelo, Texas; his daughters Dawn DaRee Hampton of Waco and Nikki Shelley of Montevallo, Alabama; his grandchildren Joshua Adam Hampton and wife Tyler, Blake Fuller Hampton, Svannah Hope Hampton and Kyleigh Dee Hampton; his brothers John Thomas Hampton of Mineral Wells, Texas and Jimmy George Hampton and wife Gina of Anahuac, Texas; his 13 nieces and nephews; his beloved canine companion Daisy; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Duane Hampton, Joshua Hampton, Tommy Hampton, Ricky Hampton, Keith Hampton and Phill Thibodeaux. Honorary pallbearers are John Hampton, Jimmy Hampton, Blake Hampton, Burl McIntosh and TJ McIntosh.
