David Wesley Wood

David Wesley Wood, 58, of Dayton passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018. David was born in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from North Shore High School in Houston. He recently retired from Lyondell Bassel after 34 years as a Maintenance Electrician.

David was a devoted and loving father. One of his joys has always been watching retro TV shows with his children, Emily and Randall. David had many hobbies, a few were woodworking, astronomy, stamps, coins, rocks and minerals and he admired currency from around the world. David enjoyed doing crosswords and puzzle games. He was a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment and an avid gun enthusiast. All were astounded to listen to him talk about God's Universe - the vastness of space, star clusters and galaxies. He was passionate about his SR8 Charger and would often take long drives.

David was a kind and gentle man who found joy in the simple things of life. His wonderful hugs and infectious laugh will be greatly missed. To count him as family or a friend was an honor.

David was preceded in death and now has been reunited with his father and mother, James David Wood and Sara Ann Lewis; his sister Terri Johnson; and his beloved son, Randall Wood, who he dearly missed. David is survived by his daughter, Emily Wood; and her mother, Debra Wood; his brothers, Ricky and wife Debbi Dixon, Jesse and wife Abby Wood. He will also be missed by many nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.

A visitation with the family will be on Thursday, June 7, 2018, from 6 until 8pm. The celebration of David's life will be at 10am on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will immediately follow in Linney Cemetery. Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Dixon, Jesse Wood, Bill Johnson, Kyle Brill, Mike Calloway and Eddie Smith.
