David Lee Rodgers, 55, resident of Anahuac, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 24, 2017 in Baytown, Texas. He was born on November 7, 1961 in New Orleans, Louisiana to James lee and Carol Kilpatrick Rodgers. David graduated from Channelview High School. He was a member of Oak Island Baptist Church.

David worked as a commercial fisherman for thirty years. He was also a master carpenter and a jack of all trades. David was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He was always very talkative and real likable by all who knew him. David loved to help others when they needed help.

David was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother James Ray Rodgers. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 24 years, Elizabeth Dianne Rodgers; his daughters Melissa Chance and husband Derrick of Hankamer and Elizabeth Chenall of Anahuac; his grandchildren Haden Kennedy, Layne Chance and Marshall Chance; his brothers Kenneth Rodgers and wife Cathy of Sweeney and Kevin Rodgers and wife Jenny of Double Bayou; his nieces and nephews Patti Sue Rodgers, Carol Ann Rodgers and Ethan Rodgers; his aunt Betty Adams of Harvey, Louisiana; his beloved fur baby and best dog, Buddy; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. David will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Charles Stephenson, Jr., Dennis Stephenson, Haden Kennedy, Bart Southall, Ethan Rodgers and Jay Stephenson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Reeves, Stacy Robertson, Tony Sullivan and Raymond Kocian.

Friends are invited to visit with the family starting at 9am on Friday, September 15, 2017 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main Street, Anahuac, Texas. Funeral service to follow at 10am, with Bro Mark Pagels, officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Jackson Cemetery in Double Bayou.
