Clifford Eugene Johnston

September 9, 1936 ~ February 26, 2019 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Tribute

Clifford Eugene Johnston, 82, of Baytown and formerly of Dayton, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 9, 1936, in Monroe, Louisiana to Ernest Guy and Josephine Luton Johnston.

Cliff worked as a millwright for Enterprise Products from 1974 until his retirement in 1992. After retiring, he began working for Miller Transporters as a truck driver. He and his wife Marianne traveled the lower 48 states together while enjoying his new career.

Cliff was a loving, soft-hearted gentle soul. He was social, yet laid back and easy going, someone who never met a stranger. Cliff’s favorite way to greet friends was to say, “Hello Pawtna”. He pursued many interests like collecting trucks and tools from garage sales and flea markets. Cliff liked to tinker with his tools and was overly protective of his garage and tool collection. In his younger years, he really enjoyed participating in the trail rides and sporting his own wagons and gear. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepson Benny Lee Fuller, Jr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 27 years Marianne Johnston; his children Clifford E. Johnston, Jr. and wife Rena of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Rev. Houston G. Johnston and wife Debbie of Vanderbilt, Texas, Chris Johnston and wife Veta of Beach City, Texas, Leslie E. Johnston of Palacios, Texas, Joy Beth Balderama of Houston, Texas and Leann F. McDaniel and husband Troy of Weatherford, Texas; his fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his brothers Frank Johnston and John Johnston; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
