Cheri Kay Alexander, 68, of Dayton, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 9, 2021, at her home in Dayton. She was born on February 13, 1953, in Germany and was the daughter of Bill and Bettie Withey Shirley.

Cheri was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She was a nurturing caregiver to her grandchildren, whom she held very dear to her heart. Cheri was instrumental in raising her grandchildren and was always so proud of them all. She kept every note, picture, and trinket given to her by the grandchildren. Cheri was also their biggest fan, always attending their sporting and extra-curricular activities, showing her continued support.  She loved them unconditionally and they meant the world to her.

Cheri was preceded in death by her parents; her children Melody Cook and Lance Cook; her grandson Carter; and her brother Carl Hanks. She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, her son Ryan Cook and wife Bristy of Anahuac; her grandchildren Courtney, Jarrett, Brailey, Kanyon, Tristan, Thomas, Cyann, Vallynn, and Jesalee; her great-grandchild Nova; also Nana to Drake, Blaedin, Paxton, Jaxon and Everlee; her brothers Todd Hanks, Blaine Hanks, Mark Hanks and Jim Hanks; her extended family Cindy and Ted DeLaO, Jake and Erica DeLaO and Kailey DeLaO; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A celebration of Cheri’s life will be held at 6pm, on Friday, May 21, 2021, at the pavilion located in Fort Anahuac Park, 1704 S Main St, Anahuac, TX 77514.
