Charles Alan Burgess Sr.

Charles Alan Burgess, Sr., 59, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Houston, Texas after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on December 28, 1957 in Houston to Billy and Mary Jordan Burgess.

Affectionately known as Chuckie, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed nothing more than playing with his grandkids. Chuckie had many hobbies, some of which included fishing, camping and dancing.

Chuckie worked for many years as a mill wright technician for Zachary in Mont Belvieu. He and his wife, Darlene have resided in Dayton for the past 24 years.

Chuckie was preceded in death by his parents; He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 39 years Darlene Antlely Burgess; his son Charles Burgess, Jr. of Dayton; his daughter Candice Edmonston and husband Brad; his grandchildren Kaylei, Koltin and Kierstin Edmonston; his siblings Billy Glynn Burgess and wife Shonda of Pickering, Louisiana and Mary Ann Connor and husband Robb of Leesville, Louisiana; his father-in-law Nolan Antley of Splendora, Texas; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Chuckie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Charles Burgess, Jr., Brad Edmonston, Dylan Burgess, Kaylei Edmonston, Anthony Hamilton, Blaize Burgess, George Hartwick and Joseph Alfano.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3pm and 8pm on Sunday, September 24, 2017 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Sterling Funeral Home. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Palms Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton.
