Charles Oliver Bonnett

Charles “Chuck” Oliver Bonnett, 80, of Crosby, Texas, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on May 31, 1938, in Richmond, Indiana to the late Lester and Lilly Mae Merrill Bonnett. 

After graduating high school, Charles proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He later started his career in the construction business, working as a superintendent for many years. Charles knew how to work hard and play hard. He was always tinkering, piddling and fixing anything and everything he could. 

Charles enjoyed playing his guitar, traveling, hunting, fishing, and camping. But what he loved most was spending time with his family. Charles will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Irvin “Glenn”, Kenneth Ray, Lelan Clarence “Pete” and Terry “Butch”; his sisters Dorothy Mae “Pinky”, Helen, Lillian, Mary “Sue”, and Anna “Jean”; and his loving wife of 50 years, Violet A. Bonnett. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his faithful and devoted companion Linda LaFoy; his daughters Dorothy Choate of Dayton, Texas and Linda Collins and husband Bob of Highlands, Texas; his grandchildren Cheyanne Volz and husband Tyler of Alliance, Nebraska, Emily Choate of Dayton, Texas, Jake Choate of Alliance, Nebraska, Chase Thompson and wife Kaitlyn of Pearland, Texas and Claire Collins and Robert Collins of Highlands, Texas; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. 

A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at the First Baptist Church Highlands, 210 N. Magnolia Street, Highlands, Texas 77562.
