Tribute

Charles Henry Campbell, 76, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 14, 1941 in Baytown, Texas to Paul Hubert and Margie Beatrice Campbell. Charles Henry and the love of his life, LaVelle made Dayton, Texas their home in 1983.

Charles Henry proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked as a plasterer by trade and was a member of the Plasters Local 79 union, where he was also the Sergeant of Arms. He was also a former Masonic Lodge brother who spent years in the community as a Mason.

Charles Henry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend to many. He was an honest man with a generous nature. Charles Henry would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, even if it was his last shirt. He had a big heart, was compassionate, loyal and lived his life with integrity and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Charles Henry enjoyed the great outdoors, camping, deer hunting and fishing for crappie and bass. He also liked to vacation with his grandchildren, taking family trips and spending quality time at his lake house on Sam Rayburn. But his greatest and most favorite hobby of all was his grandchildren.

Charles Henry was preceded in death by his parents; his son Ronnie Dallas Campbell; and a brother-in-law Richard Alpha. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 56 years, LaVelle Campbell; his children Sissy Love and husband Larry Stanley of Dayton, Bubba Campbell, Sr. and wife Tammey of Tarkington, and Connie Rhodes and husband Butch of Dayton; his grandchildren James Palmore Campbell and wife Larissa, Little Bubba Campbell and wife Carrie, Cody Love and wife Amanda, Ashley Kolarik and husband Zach, Justin Campbell and wife Emily “Trudy”, Megan Rhodes, Chance Rhodes and Lindsey Campbell; his great-grandchildren Ava and Charlie Kate Campbell, Autumn, Audrey and Austin Palmore Campbell, Ethan and Lainey Beth Kolarik, Layla and Teddy Love; his sisters Ann Moorman and husband Mike, Paulette Alpha and Shirley Lindsey and husband Chuck; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
