Arthur Lee LaFour

Arthur Lee LaFour, 74, a lifelong resident of Old River-Winfree, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at his home. He was born on September 13, 1945, in Dayton, Texas to the late Arthur “A.J.” and Nellie Emily Reeves LaFour.

Arthur worked for many years as a truck driver and had recently retired from the trucking industry. He enjoyed playing cards, spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening. Arthur had a passion for horses and loved horseback riding. He liked watching football and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan who also supported the Houston Texans. Although he was ornery, cantankerous and a jokester to most, he lived for drinking coffee and spoiling his grandchildren. Arthur will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson Justin L. LaFour; and his sisters Shirley Fay Hracek and Edna Mae Blasdel. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 54 years, Kathi Soileau LaFour; his son James LaFour; his daughter A’Dina Elliott and husband Chuck; his grandchildren Jessica Martinez and husband Michael, Shelby Elliott, Caitlin Elliott, Jordan LaFour, Ashley LaFour, and James Bubba LaFour; his great-grandson Korey LaFour; his siblings Nelene Satcher and husband Dale, Dorothy Pilkinton, Ronnie LaFour and wife Kay and Danny LaFour and wife Karen; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be James LaFour, Chuck Elliott, Donny Reeves, Raymond LaFour, James Wright, and Forrest Stoerner. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Reeves, Jerry Owens, Richard Hracek, Jereld Reeves, Arther Gunter, and Rex Green.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6pm until 8pm on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas. A graveside service and committal will be held at 10am on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at Reeves Cemetery in Old River-Winfree with Pastor Randy Piatt officiating.
