Alice Inez Desormeaux

September 5, 1931 ~ May 5, 2018 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Tribute

Alice Inez Barnhart Desormeaux, 86, passed away on May 5, 2018, in Beaumont, Texas. She was born on September 5, 1931, in Batson, Texas to the late Newton Christian Barnhart and Lily Inez Barnhart. Alice was the youngest of five children, her brother J.B. Jordan, sister Dorothy Janic, brother Newton Barnhart and sister Dixie Burke. She graduated from Anahuac High School, Class of 1949.

Alice was married to the late Commissioner Sid Desormeaux for 30 years and lived in Anahuac, Texas. Alice and Sid were members of the First United Methodist Church of Anahuac. She loved her home in Anahuac with the big yard, the catfish pond and the many pecan trees that were planted there. Alice enjoyed the great outdoors if it was not too hot. In her younger years, she loved to get out and drive around the surrounding areas of Anahuac.

Alice loved sewing, playing Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art on her organ and cooking. She thoroughly enjoyed crocheting things for her grandchildren. Alice also liked shopping for clothes and was always so particular about her appearance. She was always happy and smiling, even offering up a little small talk. Although she did not talk a lot you could always see in her beautiful blue eyes that she enjoyed a good visit.

Alice was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She was nurturing, strict and respectful. Alice cherished her two sons more than anything in the world and worried about them every minute of the day and night up until the day she passed away. They loved, adored and respected her so much for being the mother she was. Alice treasured her grandchildren and could not wait for the bus to bring them over every evening after school. She would spoil them rotten before sending them back home to their parents.

Alice always asked about all her family. She missed the ones that passed before her and constantly talked about them. She is now with them all and smiling so joyously.

Alice leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons James A. Weaver and wife Sandra and Gary Weaver and wife Geri; her grandchildren Jessica, Valarie, Tyler Weaver and wife Courtney and Kori Metteauer and husband Eric; her great-grandchildren Paisley, Jeremiah, Emmett, Hattie, Blaine, Cameron, Hallie and Hank; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
