Steven Hugh Perkinson

November 18, 1942 ~ January 13, 2018 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Steven Hugh Perkinson, 75, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on November 18, 1942 in St. Charles, Missouri to Oscar and Edna Perkinson. Steven proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era in the United States Navy as a pilot and Military Police. He was a welder by profession who had worked for many years in the pipeline industry.

Steven was a jokester with quick wit and a great sense of humor up until his death. He was also a nurturer to many; even consoling the love of his life, Vivian when he was at his weakest. Steven loved and adored his family, his fur-baby Smokey and most of all, his grandchildren. He had many hobbies, some of which included listening to his music, plant and flower gardening and watching the birds on their bird feeders. Steven never met a stranger and was a friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughters Renee Glockner and Stacy Perkinson. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, the love of his life, Vivian Kelley; his son Steven P. Perkinson; his step-daughters Lisa Skoba and Pam Schurbert and husband Jeff; his brother Kenneth Perkinson and wife Edie; his grandchildren Candice Dickerson and husband Micah, Brittany Eddings, Maigin Harcrow and husband James, Emily Glockner, Alex Glockner and Kyle Tending; his great-grandchildren Chloe Harcrow, Seth Lytle and Bella Dickerson; his sons-in-law Dave Glockner and Bobby Tending; his fur-baby who was his inseparable best dog Smokey; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A celebration of Steven’s life will be held at 4pm on Thursday, January 18, 2018 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas 77535.

It was Steven’s wishes to be cremated and for his cremated remains to be scattered in Wimberly, Texas, a place that he held close to his heart.
