Roger “Flash” Michael Gordon, 77, of Baytown, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in Pasadena, Texas, with his devoted life partner, Bonnie, by his side. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 9, 1946, to the late Marion Lee and Anna Liska Gordon.

At the age of 17, Flash embarked on a journey south to seek his fortune. He worked for major corporations and traversed the nation before finding his calling in education. Flash pursued higher learning at Oklahoma State University, earning a master’s degree with honors and boasting an impressive 4.0 GPA. Despite the odds, he graduated debt-free, thanks to his dedication and hard work.

With a passion for teaching ignited, Flash dedicated 23 years to shaping young minds. From Oklahoma to Texas, he left an indelible mark on students in local school districts and even within the Texas prison system. His commitment to education extended to Lee College, where he shared his knowledge and inspired countless individuals.

After retiring from teaching, Flash returned to the industry until the age of 63½ before embracing the joys of retirement. He found solace and fulfillment in his faith, celebrating 43 years of sobriety through the 12-step program. Flash’s zest for life knew no bounds, evident in his numerous achievements and passions.

From mastering scuba diving to embarking on motorcycle and bicycle adventures across the United States, Flash lived life to the fullest. He found joy in competitive shooting, proudly represented the NRA as a lifelong member, and explored the beauty of nature. His adventures took him through 48 out of 50 states, leaving a trail of cherished memories.

Flash’s legacy is one of resilience, determination, and unwavering spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship, forever remembered by his best friend, Bonnie Jean Price; and many dear friends whose lives he touched profoundly. As he embarks on his next journey, may Flash’s spirit continue to inspire and guide those who knew and loved him.
