Micheal K. Cooley, 62, of Anahuac, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Houston, Texas. A loving husband, father, brother and friend to many. He was born on January 9, 1955 in Liberty, Texas to Walter and Patsy Jo Anderson Cooley. Mike graduated from Anahuac High School in 1973 and attended Lee College where he received his associate degree. He worked as a special education mentor for Anahuac ISD, impacting all his students positively by teaching them valuable life lessons.
Mike was a gentle, kind and compassionate man, always putting his family first. Mike had numerous hobbies in his lifetime, some of which included photography, going to the casinos, college football and anything UT Longhorns, watching cheesy “B movies” and playing with his and other’s fur babies. In his younger years, he enjoyed duck hunting. Of recent, Mike really enjoyed the simple things in life like sitting on his screened in porch, chilling lazily for a little porch therapy and listening to music or the wind blowing around him.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his son Joshua Cooley; his brother Allen “Butch” Cooley; and his father and mother-in-law, Fred and Mary Jean Abshier. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 40 years Pat Cooley of Pine Island, Texas; his son Justin Cooley and Rachael of Shreveport, Louisiana; his grandson Conner Chauvin of Shreveport, Louisiana; his sisters-in-law Charlotte Cooley of Anahuac, Texas, Jean Forest and husband Randy of Double Bayou, Texas and Louise Pierson and husband Windell of Jacksonville, Texas; his nieces Kristin Pierson Payne and husband Clayton of Jacksonville, Texas and Kaye Cormier and husband Willis of Anahuac, Texas; his nephew Mike A. Cooley of Anahuac, Texas; his uncle Adrian B. Cooley, Jr. (Uncle Jr.) and wife Pat; his dear cousin Robert Abshier and wife Phyllis; his furry companions which he loved so much, Buddy, Bevo, Bear and Mojo; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12pm until 2pm on Saturday, March 18, 2017 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main Street, Anahuac, Texas. A celebration of Mike’s life will begin immediately after the visitation at 2pm.
