Judith Ann Meritt

Judith Ann Tolliver Meritt, of Houston, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 21, 1951 in Fairfield, Illinois to John and Genevieve Tolliver. Judith graduated from Fairfield High School in 1969 and on August 2, 1992, she married James Bruce Meritt. They lived in Fairfield, Illinois, until moving to South Carolina, then eventually settling in Houston in 1981.  Judith and Bruce  loved going out to the country to their cabin in Centerville Texas, where Judith enjoyed watching the birds, deer and  other wildlife. She also loved campfire cooking with her grandchildren.

Judith is survived by her loving husband, James B. Meritt; children, Frances Jane Meritt, and W. James Meritt and wife Dawn; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her siblings May Grove, Bill and Les Tolliver; cousins Vivki Haskett; numerous neices and nephews; mother-in-law Anna Meritt; and special friend Betty Orr. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Genevieve Tolliver; stepdad (daddy) Ray Puntney; and siblings, Jim, Glenn, Mary and Jean; cousin Diane Files; and niece Carleen.                     , 

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4pm until 7pm on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in the chapel of Cypress Fairbanks Funeral Home, 9926 Jones Road in Houston. A celebration of Judy's life will begin at 6pm. Additional services and interment will be held in Fairfield, Illinois.
