Johnny "Papa John" Swain, 65, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on September 18th of 2017, surrounded by loved ones.

Johnny Arthur Swain was born on July 5th, 1952, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Francis Clarice Eastman Swain and Charles Fant Swain. Johnny was a loving father, grandfather, and a truly caring and dedicated friend to anyone who knew him. Johnny graduated from Liberty High School in Liberty, Texas in 1971. From an early age Johnny exhibited a true talent for all things artistic. He was very gifted in drawing; portraits and caricatures being his forte. He was also a very talented self-taught musician, learning to play the guitar and organ by ear. Johnny loved the outdoors, and was also a very experienced surfer. He was an extremely free-spirited soul, who was not afraid to work hard for something he truly wanted. He was a deep thinker, an articulate speaker and an influential writer. He will be deeply and truly missed by the loved ones he left behind.

Johnny is survived by his daughters Chastity Marie Swain Mason and partner Rex France of Phoenix and Carrie Elizabeth Swain Hollister and husband David of Dayton; his grandchildren Christian Bree Mason, Dennis Christopher Mason, Emily Claire Mason, Olivia Marie Hollister, Violet Claire Hollister, and Isaac Sidney Hollister; his great-grandchildren Jayden Isaiah Rab and Hayden Raelyn Brooke; his brother Charles Douglas Swain of Devers; his two aunts and two uncles; and his sixteen cousins spread throughout the United States. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Charles Swain; and his grandson Johnathan Edward Mason.
